Did you know that olive oil is a fundamental element of the Mediterranean Diet, designated as UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity?
Let us present you Rodoliv, a Portuguese regional olive oil cooperative and a GEOfood partner, from Naturtejo UNESCO Global Geopark!
But first of all, it should be noted that the European Union produces around 67% of the oil consumed worldwide and Portugal is the sixth largest producer in the world.

Rodoliv cooperative, in Vila Velha de Ródão, gatherers local producers with traditional extensive olive groves from Tejo River schist and alluvial terraces and it is included in one of the most renowned regions for olive production in Portugal.
Ródão Olive Oil is the result of the long history and secular art of olive oil masters, that combines the quality of the raw material and traditional hand-harvesting with a modern milling technology.

This brand is deeply connected with Portas de Ródão Natural Monument, the iconic epigenic gorge, one of the Geopark’s most symbolic geomonuments with a very important cultural meaning for local communities.
A significant part of the olives are grown around Tejo River area, where this geosite with international relevance stands out and it was chosen to represent the brand and to illustrate the labels.
Considered “liquid gold”, this olive oil is recognized for its unique characteristics and for its smooth and fruity aromas. It has received numerous awards and medals and it can be found in shops around the entire region, at the tourism office in Vila Velha de Ródão, in regional markets and it can also be ordered online (www.rodoliv.com).
Ródão Olive Oil became a Geoproduct of Naturtejo Geopark in 2017 and joined GEOfood in 2020.
